Operation LAMB, as you know, is a major community and charitable activity for the Knights of Columbus, especially here in North Carolina. Our Council joins forces with other nearby Councils to pool our collections and donate to about 10 local charities, all in support of people with intellectual disabilities. It is truly rewarding to see what the Knights’ activities do for these worthy causes, and to be a part of it.
For our Council, a mainstay has been our fundraisers over the years at the K Mart store, on Six Forks at the intersection with Strickland. This location remains the one where we are able to collect the most, of the options we have pursued.
We have the K Mart store manager’s approval to conduct a fundraiser all day on Saturday March 10. We will go from 9 am to 5 pm, in two hour shifts. We do the best when we have two Brother Knights for each shift, although we could always use more. Some of our Brothers in the past have brought with them either family members, or their (friendly) pet.
Please consider joining those who have so willingly joined us in the past, for this first fundraiser of 2018. Please let me know by return email if you would like to participate on that day, March 10. So far, here is the list of volunteers. I will also plan to fill in any gaps, or be a third (or perhaps fourth) person, once we fill in our “roster” for the day.
9 am to 11 am Bill Hast Tom Smith
11 am to 1 pm
1 pm to 3 pm
3 pm to 5 pm Tom Boltz
I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge and thank the 12 or so Brother Knights who have been regular supporters of this worthwhile activity over the past two years. I hope we can fill in this roster, enjoy some time together while we are there, and maybe meet some nice people who know the Knights and our worthy endeavors. If you have not done this before, perhaps you might be able to give it a try.
Please let me know by return email, if you would like to sign up for the times shown.
Best regards, and Vivat Jesus
PS: We also have an approved date for a similar event in April, but at a different location. I will be sending out another email in a few days on that one. (Last year, we did five such events.)
